Memorial services for Janet Scherer, age 80 of West Point, will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, with Pastor Priscilla Hukki officiating. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point.

Janet passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point. It was Janet’s desire to donate her body to the State of Nebraska Anatomical Board.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Terry of West Point; children and their families:

– Jeff and Lori Scherer of Beemer, and family: Eric and Amanda Scherer and daughter, Pippa, Jared and Kristen Scherer, Ryan and Amber Robart and children, Atticus, Aidynn, Asher and Michael, Erin Robart and son, Simon;

– Bob and Cindy Scherer of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and family: Tia and Kyle Knudsen and children, Kennedy and Leo.

— Scott and Jean Scherer of Rapid City, S.D., and family: Matthew Scherer and Emily Scherer;

— Ann and Scott Greene of Arlington, Va., and family: Bryce Greene, Zachary and Lindsey Greene and son, Weston, and Remi and Jeremy Martinez and daughter, GiGi.

Janet is also survived by a sister, Carol James of Trout Creek, Mont.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, Allen Tiedtke; mother, Viola Mewis; step-father, Lester Mewis; sister, Mary Ann Tiedtke, and brother, Dean Tiedtke.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Francis Hospice of West Point in Janet’s name.
