Willie Nagengast, 81, of West Point, died Thursday, January 16, 2020 at his home in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Father Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the cafeteria.
Visitation will be Friday from noon until
4 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home and continue from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7:00.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Nagengast of West Point, and their children:
– Bill Nagengast of West Point and his daughter Courtney Lase and granddaughter, Zyrra;
– Jackie (Todd) Repschlaeger of West Point and their children, Darian and Drake Repschlaeger;
– Tim Nagengast of Papillion;
– Tami (Larry) Zobel of Bancroft and their children, daughter Morgan (Jesse) Jacobsen and their family: Peyton, Paisley and Parker; their son, Mitchell Zobel, and their daughter, Madison Zobel.
His siblings include Valdean and the late Ron Vrba of Fremont, Norman and Judy Nagengast of California, the late Velma Nagengast of North Bend, the late Jeri and Johnny Schlepp of Fremont, Elaine and Gene Crist of Fremont, and Dan and Sandy Nagengast of Kansas.
In-laws include Jean and the late Duane Popken of Scribner, the late Arlene and Les French of Illinois, the late Bob and the late Carolyn Michaelis of West Point, Jim and Sharon Michaelis of Dodge, Dennis and Linda Michaelis of West Point, Onie and the late Ken Michaelis of West Point.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Willie was also preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Helen Nagengast; father and mother-in-law, Ben and Sylvia Michaelis, and a nephew, Dennis Rogers.
