West Point’s volunteer fire and rescue departments have been kept more than busy the past couple of weeks with field fires and minor traffic accidents. The same for neighboring communities departments.

But it’s the field fires that have taken up most of their time. Sunday afternoon’s fire northeast of West Point, for example, kept departments from West Point, Beemer and Bancroft on the scene for at least four hours. Then there was equipment to be cleaned up when the trucks were back at the fire station.
