I’m not sure when it became in vogue for officials of any political party to heap so much praise upon others in their party for doing their jobs, but it’s something we now live with daily. And it’s not limited just one party. It might be that it’s always been that way but we just hear it more these days because of the 24/7 news cycle.

Or maybe it’s just that I’m old school — so Lord help me when I turn 64 in July — but all this effusive praise needs to be reined in. I respect our elected officials but I also expect them to do their jobs without being patted on the back at every turn.
