What took place last Tuesday at the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District Board of Directors meeting was eerily similar to an LENRD board meeting back in 2016. The hot button issue at both meetings: dams. Last week it was a study to determine if a series of dams would help reduce flood damage in the Maple Creek Watershed.

Back in 2016 it was a study to evaluate ten potential reservoir sites in northeast Nebraska that might provide better flood control, stream flow augmentation, water recharge, water quality, and possibly some recreational opportunities.
