Seems the media can’t catch a break these days. And we’re not talking about the West Point News.

A lot of people this week were critical of the media for its coverage of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), saying reports are overly hyped and creating fear and panic. Well, maybe creating a bit of fear isn’t a bad thing when we’re dealing with a disease that so little is known about, no vaccine is available for, and can kill people.

In the cases we saw where the news media was being blamed, it was actually the people who provide commentary on what is going on in the world who were hyping the story. A commentator’s job is to provide his/her perspective on the news that was reported. So please, don’t take something as poor reporting or too much reporting when it is actually people stating their opinions on what was reported.
