Hugs and tears were the scene in West Point Saturday afternoon as Guardian Angels Central Catholic’s bid for a state volleyball tournament berth fell short. Hopes of making a return trip to Lincoln were denied when Hastings St. Cecilia outlasted the Bluejays in a five-set battle of the C2-7 District finals.

“We picked a poor time not to play well. It wasn’t one of our better efforts,” GACC head coach Kate Hagemann said. “We had a lot of unforced errors. A lot of mental errors. It’s disappointing, but at the end of day, Hastings just played better than us.”
