There was no secret ingredient to North Bend Central’s 48-33 win over West Point-Beemer in the opening round of the Class C1 Girls State Basketball tournament Thursday at the Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. Success for the Tigers came down to two key areas: defense and depth.

North Bend Central, who went on to win the Class C1 state championship title, limited their opponents to 31, 32 and 33 points in their three state tournament games. And the Tigers’ championship-level defense was on display in their win over West Point-Beemer.
