Figueroa wins state title

Cadet Brisa Figueroa starts to turn her opponent for a pin, which was a common theme for her. Figueroa pinned her way to the 109 championship title at the NSWCA Girls State Wrestling tourney.

As the defending state champions, West Point-Beemer expected to be in the mix for another title at the NSWCA Girls State Wrestling Tournament held Friday and Saturday at York High School.

And they were. The Cadets were near the top all tournament long. However, West Point-Beemer’s bid for a repeat title came up just short as the Cadets secured a 3rd-place finish.
