As the newly hired Athletic Director at Guardian Angels Central Catholic, Josh Batenhorst is right where he wants to be.
Batenhorst returns to the community where he graduated high school. He is a 2008 alum from West Point-Beemer, and being back in West Point brings nothing but excitement.
“It means everything to be here. This community helped raise me into the person I am today,” Batenhorst said. “It’s just really nice to be back. I’m excited to put my roots down where it all started.”
Not only is Batenhorst excited to be in West Point, but the job itself is a thrilling opportunity for the Bluejay AD.
“I’m a sports guy. I have been since I was knee-high. Just the thought of getting to manage an entire athletic department fires me up,” Batenhorst said.
“I know it’s cliché to say this, but I really feel like I was born for this job. Everything about it, all the logistics and helping all the coaches, it’s kind of a dream come true.”
Batenhorst spent the past five years at Allen as an Ag teacher, FFA advisor and coach for football, wrestling and track.
In addition to being Athletic Director at GACC, Batenhorst will teach three ag classes and serve as head wrestling coach. With wrestling in his blood, Batenhorst is eager to take over the Bluejay program.
