Championship finish

Cadet Brook Diekemper connects on a successful chip shot on hole #5 during the WP-B Invite Friday at Indian Trails. Diekemper opened up her high school career by winning an individual title.

Brook Diekemper looked like anything but a freshman at the West Point-Beemer golf tourney last week.

As a result, Diekemper produced an incredible start to her career as the Cadet freshman captured an individual title at WP-B’s home meet Friday at Indian Trails.

Diekemper carded a tourney-low 85, which topped runner-up Paige Peters of TC Thunder, who shot a 91. Peters, a senior, is a three-time state medalist.

“Brook winning the title was a surprise and at the same time wasn’t. She has the capability of going low and making plenty of pars,” Cadet head coach Keith Eriksen said.

“She played her game and came out on top against some good competition.”

Fellow Cadets Maddie Erb and Kaily Oswald also notched top 15 finishes. Erb secured an 8th-place finish with a 101, and Oswald was 15th with a 108.
