Some how, some way, the Guardian Angels Central Catholic girls basketball team continues to find ways to win close games. Monday night was no different.
A lot of it is coaching, and a ton of it is the Bluejay players digging deep and producing the heart and effort to pull out a win. That was the case in GACC’s 58-55 win over Wayne Monday in West Point.
Wayne gave the Jays a run for their money, but in the end, GACC made the plays down the stretch to pull out the ‘W.’
“I’m really proud of the girls and the effort they gave. We had a lot of people contribute to this win,” Bluejay head coach Jerry Stracke said. “We were a bit sluggish, but that was expected with how many games we have played. Luckily, we have people to go to on the bench.”
People like Greta Vering, who came off the bench and provided the Jays with a spark thanks to her four three-pointers. She finished with 13 points.
