Bluejay title

Bluejay short stop Marissa Hunke gloves the throw but doesn’t get the tag in time as Aquinas Catholic’s Sierra Meysenburg steals second base during the GACC Bluejay Tourney Saturday at Timmermann Park. GACC won the Bluejay title with a 2-1 win over Bishop Neumann in the finals.

All three games were a grind for Guardian Angels Central Catholic at their home Bluejay softball tourney Saturday at Timmermann Park.

That day-long grind made the Bluejays’ run to a championship finish that much sweeter.

GACC completed its championship run with a 2-1 victory over Bishop Neumann in the finals. Neumann is the 2nd-ranked team in Class C.

“I was really happy with our grind all day. We stayed focused and played hard all three games,” Bluejay head coach Allan Kreikemeier said.

“It has been a few years since we got a championship trophy here at our home tourney. I was really happy for our kids.”

Tied at 1-1, GACC’s Brenna Rief delivered a walk-off single, which brought home Melissa Hagedorn for the game-winning run.
