In what was viewed as a wide-open district tournament, Guardian Angels Central Catholic proved to be the clear-cut favorite, and did so with a dominant performance.

That dominance was on display all day on Saturday as the GACC softball program clinched its 7th consecutive state tourney appearance.

GACC made that state berth official with a 16-4 victory over Ponca in the C-4 District championship game Saturday evening at Timmermann Park.

“We wanted to make a statement in this championship game. We couldn’t ask anything more of these kids,” Bluejay head coach Allan Kreikemeier said. “They came out and really hit the ball well. We did all the little things right. Those little things made for big innings.”
