Eyeing a third consecutive state title game appearance, Guardian Angels Central Catholic came up just short as Yutan/Mead notched a couple key hits to capture a 4-0 win over the Bluejays in the Class C State Softball tournament Friday at Hastings.

“We just couldn’t get that timely hit. It hurts. These kids were right there,” Bluejay head coach Allan Kreikemeier said. “They competed like crazy, and I’m just so proud of what they did this year. This was a special group. For us to get this far is pretty special.”
