In a game that featured 161 total points being scored, it was Guardian Angels Central Catholic who did just enough to outscore BRLD for an 83-78 championship win during the finals of the Howells-Dodge girls holiday tournament on Saturday.
And it was a quick start that helped set the tone for GACC with 27 1st quarter points.
“Bancroft always comes ready to play, so I’m just glad that we responded the way we did,” Bluejay head coach Jerry Stracke said.
The style of play for GACC and BRLD is nearly identical with an in-your-face full-court press. Handling that pressure for both teams was key. So was knocking down shots, which both teams were able to do.
“Both teams knocked down some key three’s throughout the game,” Stracke said. “It was a game that could of went either way. We were very fortunate to come away with the win.”
