With so much growth in the sport over the past year, the path to the Girls State Wrestling Tournament has become more of a challenge.
And despite some challenging brackets, West Point-Beemer closed out the A-2 District meet February 3-4 at Madison with three state qualifiers: Brooklin Kuester, Claire Paasch and Lizbeth Gonzalez.
Kuester (120) and Paasch (190), both seniors, are returning state qualifiers. Gonzalez, a freshman, is a first-time qualifier at 235 pounds.
Panther freshman punches ticket to state
A stellar freshman season for Kristi Raue will conclude with her making a trip to the Girls State Wrestling tournament later this month.
Raue was a 3rd-place finisher at the A-2 District over the weekend at Madison. She qualified at 110 pounds.
