Zion St. John Lutheran Church celebrated fifty years as a combined church on Sunday. Approximately 225 people were in attendance at the church service. Rev. Robert Mayes and Rev. William Voelker emeritus, who was the pastor when Zion and St. John first merged, led the worship service.

In his sermon, Rev. Voelker spoke on the topic of lifting high the cross. He pointed out that the word “lift” is not in the past tense – it is present tense, and it is a command.
