Four solid years of competing in the NAIA in track and field recently led to one individual’s rise to the top.
Lucas Wiechman, a Wisner-Pilger graduate, came away from this past weekend’s NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships a ‘National Champion.’
He captured his national title in the heptathlon, then followed it up with a third place in the pole vault (16’1 ¾”), a fifth in the 60 meter hurdles (8.24), and as a member of the Concordia University Men’s 4X400 relay, which placed in sixth place (3:16.79).
Add all this together and you have 20 team points for which Wiechman was a part of, helping lead to Concordia’s runner-up national indoor placing.
To top it all off, Wiechman was named the Outstanding Performer of the Meet, an accomplishment the senior also received last month during the GPAC Indoor Championships.
